École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) has been devoted to the technological and economic development of Québec since its founding in 1974. Co-operative education, applied research, collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship are the pillars of the ÉTS mission. Through the unique experiences it offers, the School fosters and promotes Québec know-how both at home and abroad. By tirelessly working for the scientific advancement of society, ÉTS is resolutely engaged in improving the lives of future generations.
How can we make our infrastructures resilient to extreme winds or excess rain? How can we diagnose Alzheimer's disease at an early stage? Can we improve photovoltaic panels by taking inspiration from the eyes of butterflies? These are just some of the research and innovation questions that ÉTS engineering researchers are trying to answer.
École de technologie supérieure firmly believes that scientific research must serve the common good. With nearly 80 groups dedicated to research, the possibilities for advancing knowledge and improving people's lives are endless. ÉTS faculty members focus their work on the major issues facing society. By maintaining strong ties with various organizations and industrial partners, our professors propose applied research projects at both master's and doctoral levels. To do research at ÉTS is to develop practical skills to solve problems faced by local businesses.
"I’m free to explore topics that resonate with me, in a safe and supportive environment. Additionally, I have access to two levels of government research funding—something that’s not necessarily available throughout Canada. I chose Montréal because I found it to be a place that brings together all the things I love in life: science, art, humanity and community, and lastly, the environment."
